Show Youth You Care During National Safe Place WeekIt is difficult to navigate life as a young person. Youth face daily risks to their emotional, psychological and physical safety. Whether this is through housing instability, abuse, unresolved/undiagnosed mental health issues, bullying, human trafficking, sextortion, or more the risks to our young people are real and immediate. Unfortunately, the last several years has taken a toll on the availability and accessibility of resources in communities like yours. Shelters have closed or decreased the number of available beds, youth focused programs have seen shortages in funding and staffing, and affordable mental health support is limited. When a young person is struggling, who can they turn to for safety and support? Safe Place® provides the crucial support young people deserve. The prevention efforts of programs to educate youth of safe options, increase community-wide awareness, and establish a comprehensive network of support to meet identified needs are foundational to the Safe Place effort. When a youth makes the critical decision to ask for help – the help has to be available. This first contact may be the only chance to prevent harm to a vulnerable youth. There is great power in the words “I can help” and “I believe you”. By providing this invaluable linkage to services, Safe Place meets an important community need and provides entities such as schools, law enforcement, libraries, and churches with a quality, consistent, and strengths-based option. Are you prepared to show young people you care during National Safe Place (NSP) Week? NSP Week is observed each year during the third full week of March. This year’s NSP Week takes place March 17-23, 2024. National Safe Place Network (NSPN) is asking you to show vulnerable young people you care by providing a donation of $35 or more. This gift will cover the cost of one youth to access direct, one-on-one support with a mental health professional via text through TXT 4 HELP program. This gift can be given at www.nationalsafeplace.org/give. This support can make a difference in whether a young person gets access to life-saving services through Safe Place. Together we form the valuable linkages to ensure there is a safety net for young people nationwide. Your support during NSP Week, and all year-round, is invaluable. The Safe Place program continues to thrive because of people like who get involved in their community, place the yellow and black Safe Place signs onto businesses, libraries, fire stations, and more, and signal to youth there is safety and support available when they need it. Visit www.nationalsafeplace.org/give to make your gift today. We also urge you to consider becoming a diamond donor and making your gift a monthly recurrence. No gift is too small. Give $35 today and help keep youth safe.Your Gift Makes a DifferenceWill your next $35 go to help a youth in crisis?
