Youth HOPE Month Turning Awareness into Action

Youth HOPE Month Turning Awareness into Action

Youth HOPE Month, formerly known as National Runaway Prevention Month, creates an opportunity to focus national and local attention on youth homelessness, prevention, safety, stability, and well-being.

Share pathways to help

Ensure young people, families, schools, libraries, businesses, and other partners know how to reach local services, the National Runaway Safeline, Safe Place, and TXT 4 HELP.

Center youth-informed messages

Invite young people to help shape outreach language and activities. Protect privacy and avoid asking anyone to disclose personal experiences for the sake of awareness.

Engage community partners

Provide partners with simple actions, such as displaying materials, sharing referral information, joining a training, or participating in a community conversation.

Use ready-made tools

The National Runaway Safeline’s Youth HOPE Month Toolkit includes materials that organizations can use to plan activities and communicate through local and social media.

Awareness is most meaningful when it helps people recognize risk, understand available support, and take action. Use Youth HOPE Month to strengthen relationships and referral pathways that remain active throughout the year.
